Via Ferrata

OPENS June 20, 2020. This memorable experience takes you high above the valley floor, across suspended bridges and along granite walls. Via Ferrata is perfect for families, groups or individuals 10 years of age or older. Tours run anywhere from 1.5 to 6 hours, depending on the experience you choose. | You must weigh between 88 and 264 pounds and be reasonably physically fit and capable. Minors 13 years of age or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Climbers aged 10 and 11 years may participate with a 1:1 guide ratio in a private tour ONLY!

An additional guide is required for each parent/child pair that includes a child 10-11 years old. Our friendly Mountain Sports School staff will be in touch shortly to assist you with booking your additional guide if one is required for your group.

Online booking for the Via Ferrata will begin on June 29th. If you are trying to book for an earlier date or your preferred date is unavailable please call our sales office for assistance at 307.739.2797.

Below please find information that you will need before your time on the Via Ferrata:

Via Ferrata and the Mountain Environment:
All of the Via Ferrata routes are above 9000’. At that altitude, weather events such as lightning, thunder, rain or snow are not uncommon. The conditions can change rapidly. Early season climbing may be limited by snow on the routes. At any time weather may cause closures or delays on the routes. Our staff will communicate any changes in your booking due to weather as promptly as possible.  Please ensure that we have a phone number at which we can reach you.

Check In: 
The meeting place for your climbing experience is on the first floor of the Bridger Center (by Cafe 6311) at the sales desk. You need to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your scheduled tour. If you have questions about your climbing experience please feel free to stop in or call Mountain Sports School at 307-739-2797.  For directions to our office please 
click here. At check in, you will receive your Bridger Gondola lift access and sign our Acknowledgment of Risk forms. From there, you will ride the Gondola to the Rendezvous Lodge where you will meet your guide and start your day!

Cancellation Policy: 
If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours in advance for a full refund. Any cancellation made inside 24 hours will be charged a 50% cancellation fee of the total cost. 

If JHMR cancels your experience for any reason (weather most common!), we will do our best to reschedule you for a time that is convenient for you.  If that is not possible, you will receive a full refund.

Via Ferrata and COVID

JHMR is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our guests and staff. For much of your day on the Via Ferrata, you will naturally be appropriately socially distanced.  However, due to the nature of this activity, it will not be possible to maintain this distance at all times. Our staff will have protective face coverings for these times; we ask that our guests wear them as well.  We will supply those if you do not have them. Additionally, we will be performing thermal checks on all guests prior to starting with the orientation.  Any guest with a temperature of greater than 100’F or exhibiting flu-like symptoms will be asked not to participate. Our staff will guide you through the rest of our COVID mitigation practices.

Paragliding

To make reservations for flights before June 20, 2020, call 307-690-8726 or e-mail scott@jhparagliding.com. Paragliding is a fun and safe, family-friendly activity that you will never forget. Jackson Hole Paragliding employs 15 United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association certified tandem instructors and flies more than 2000 tandems safely every summer. The average process time for a paragliding flight is approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Process time can change based on weather conditions. Please allow yourself plenty of time for the flight if you are scheduling other events around the valley on the same day. We can fly anyone weighing between 40 and 220 pounds who is physically capable of running downhill for take-off. Most flights take off from the top of the Bridger Gondola.

Flights take place every morning. Meeting times are 7:45 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Wear long pants, a sweatshirt or wind breaker and good shoes. If you have a ski helmet, gloves and a mask please bring them; if not we will provide them.

Aerial Tram Tickets

The Aerial Tram Ticket includes access to the Bridger Gondola. In just 12 minutes, the Aerial Tram glides skyward 4,139 vertical feet. The summit offers staggering 360-degree views of the Tetons, Jackson Hole valley and surrounding mountain ranges. | The "Top of the World" provides amazing access to a plethora of great hiking and running trails, climbing and the occasional snowball fight. Oh, and don't forget the world-famous gourmet waffles in Corbet's Cabin. This price includes the online discount.

Printing is not necessary. You can pick up online order tickets when you arrive.

  • Your ticket includes unlimited rides on purchase day.
  • The first tram departs at 9 a.m.
  • It's a 12-minute ride from base to summit.
  • Waffles at Corbet's are served until 4:30 p.m.
  • The last tram down departs at 5:30 p.m.
  • The tram runs every 15 minutes.
  • Please check the weather at the summit for temperatures and wind conditions, and pack accordingly.
